3:10 to Yuma (1957) is excellent
Rio Bravo (1959) is good.
Winchester ‘73 is good if your a James Stewart fan.
many of these are pretty good movies but I don’t know how interesting or difficult it would be to write about them.

If I were going to pick just one I’d say "She Wore a Yellow Ribbon" its the middle film of John Ford’s cavalry trilogy and a great classic. (Fort Apache and Rio Grande are the other two).
Plutonium Blonde | Mar 10, 2009
They Died With Their Boots On
or
Drums Along the Mohawk ( which is more eastern frontier than western but still a good one )
Ross James | Mar 10, 2009
Gun Fight At The O.K Corral xxxx

Unforgiven (1992)
Of your list, Henry Fonda is good in The Return of Frank James. However, for a film study class, I would probably choose The Gunfighter with Gregory Peck as Jimmy Ringo.
