why doeseent every military ground soldier have a bullet proof vest,i noticed whenever cops go into dangerous situtions they arm them all up with bulletproof vests,and the body is the spot ur most likely gonna get shot in yet they dont give are soldiers bulletproof vest.why not??!!!!!?!?!?! it would save many soldiers and let them live 2 fight another day.so why not?
because they way about 40 lbs and slow them down too much in a fire fight.

There are very few vests that can stop a rifle round, or shrapnel and concussion from an explosive device. Any vest that would have a chance of stopping these would be bulky and weigh a ton. Some soldiers in some situations weigh the pros and the cons, and decide that freedom of movement is more desirable than the limited protection a vest can provide.

All US troops in combat zones are issued ballistic vests. (Which are much more effective than police style vests.)

you should do some research before you ask why military soldiers arent equiped with something that they actually are equiped with.
first off, there is no such thing as a bullet proof vest. its an innacurate hollywood term for what really exists, which is body armor. and every single servicemember that deploys wears body armor. the body armor we wear is much better than what cops wear btw.

FIRST The government does issue "bullet proof" (?) vests…. They have for the last 40 years***….. there have been improved versions but generally they are cumbersome and hot…. sometimes the troops "forget" to wear them….. or sit on them…..or even buy civilian models reputed to be state of the art
*** During the Clinton years he cut military spending so much we could not afford gasoline much less armored vests….. that huge surplus of money from the Clinton years the democrats like to brag so much about….. was paid for by dead bodies when the troops went to Iraq without vests. Even when Clinton was in office our military was not fully equipped because of his cuts. The troops that invaded Haiti were supposed to have 12 magazines per weapon…. many of the units only had three magazines per weapon…..We are lucky there was not any serious resistance. Everyone blamed Bush for going in with troops that were not fully protected when it was Clinton that stripped them naked

They do in a combat zone. The Fort Hood soldiers were in garrison so nobody thought they’d need vests there (except at the ranges).
