Hey my name’s Joe. I’m 31 originally from Kenner, Louisiana, just outside of New Orleans. I moved to Texas because of Katrina, it left me and my immediate family homeless. So the company I worked for at the time relocated us to Arlington. I resigned and have been working as an auditor for a hotel now for the past 4 years. Now here’s a bit about me. I’m more of an introvert. I pretty sensitive and a little self conscious sometimes. I come alive when I’m with people who I feel comfortable with. Not much of a club guy or a social butterfly. I don’t dance. No religious, but not an atheist either. I’m pretty honest and would love to find a girl who can be as honest with me as I am with her. Sometimes I can be pretty dense when it comes to relationships and dating. I need communication, I’m a good listener and don’t mind constructive criticism.

Physically I’m 6′2 185 pounds. Slim, although I’m working on getting into better shape. Not bad looking at all, but never thought myself a calendar model either. I’m blessed in that certain area, but just a bit bigger than most. Not Gigantic. I would like to find a girl whose more weight height proportionate. Nothing against bigger ladies. What do the police/NRA do with poached items such at guns, mounts, and meat?
I was just looking on you tube of poaching videos from encounters to decoys. I was wondering what do they do with all the stuff like guns head/mounts meat fur?
I don’t know but if they don’t already I think they should sell it to the public after cleaning….like make sure nothing hidden and guns are in good shape, and after they sell use that money to help stop other poachers and poaching. And test the meat if its ok/healthy to eat and donate to a….donate to places that feed the poor.

Its just gets me mad on how the responsible hunters go to have fun and pop a deer or two when, and you go and you either don’t see anything or all the big bucks are gone.

What do you think about poachers..And I was wondering….what does dnr stand for and does it involve hunters? I always thought it did but can’t find if it does online. I found what it means.
Well what I’m saying…The NRA obviously does help because they find dead carcasses and get involved. Or are cleaning up places and find…who knows what

The NRA has nothing to do with the taking of a Poacher’s property other than they advise one to report such activity to the Game Warden. As for what the police/Game Warden does with any seized property that varies from state to state. some melt the guns down, others auction them off. As for the meat and pelts they in most cases are burnt up or buried.

NRA?? NRA is not an enforcement agency.

The meat from game violations is usually donated to homeless shelter, soup kitchens and old folks homes.

Everything that is confiscated from cars, boats, airplanes to sleeping bags is normally sold at public auction.

In some states the firearms are offered back to the owner at fair market value. If they not buy it – then the guns go though a several stage process. Feds get first dibs, then the state troopers and other state official offices, then local police, and it all eventually gets offered to local shooting clubs for training. What ever is left over goes to public auction. In most New England states that have tougher gun laws – the guns are cut into pieces and destroyed. Used to be they were dumped in the sea – but – they had allot of trouble with police officers Easter egging the guns – and they would turn up again. Now they deliver a tote full of guns, they get cut up – and the weight of the guns before and after demilling is checked to make sure nothing escaped.

DNR=Department of Natural Resources. Sometimes (rarely) confiscated meat is donated to food pantry or sometimes jail menu. Firearms and vehicles confiscated depends on state laws-many times they are sold to wholesalers/dealers by order of court and the money split between court and DNR or often goes to general revenue fund of state. Federal laws from Dems tend to say destroy firearms but Judge and federal agencies looking for extra money have ordered guns to be sold at auction by federal Marshall’s service like confiscated drug cars- this usually means licensed dealers only can bid- and money goes 1/2 to agency that made the bust. . .

Most law enforcement agencies destroy the firearms. Some of the agencies (F&G) donate the meat to needy families, and many of the trophy animals are mounted and put on display at the F&G offices.

The NRA doesn’t have any involvement when it comes to poaching or what is done with confiscated items. The NRA is a political and marksmanship organization. What ends up being done to the animal parts is up to the local and/or state game and fish warden.

As for firearms the policy also varies. Some place they will stay in an evidence room for years before either being cut or sold to local dealers who can then sell them for cheap.

Hunters asked for the regulations we have now. The only thing that people probably didn’t see coming were the massive increase in cost.

Locally any part of a firearm that is seized from a person who has no legal right for it’s return is destroyed. I’ve seen $5000 scopes be destroyed as no attached part can be anything but. We put them in a pit and our EOD guys blow them up.

Is it weird that I'm not obsessed with marriage?
I’m sorry if I’m mistaken and anyone now sees this twice, but I tried posting this a bit ago and I didn’t see it appear on the page (which seems to happen to me a lot, so I figured I’d re-post). Thank you.

Many of my friends are obsessed with having boyfriends and with getting married (we’re teenagers). They worry that it (marriage) won’t happen for them and they hope for specific guys to ask them out. I always listen, and offer advice when they ask for it, but I’m not concerned about dating or anything. I never thought anything of this until it seemed to come up all the time.

These past few years I’ve felt like all of the things I’ve repressed and all of the more current things that upset me have really caught up with me and I think it’s when I really turned to my eating disorder and self-injury that I just stopped even noticing guys beyond them being my friends. Everyone thinks I’m so ecstatically happy all the time (thankfully), so I suppose being so different on the inside from the outside messed with my mind a bit as well. It’s been years since I began engaging in those things, but I still don’t care about dating. Whenever I get asked out I feel ill (being complimented and stuff like that by anyone is so awkward, and it’s all the worse when done by a guy who just wants you to be his girlfriend). Also, I guess I look around at my family and I see so many failed marriages (but between people who are still married), and I hear my mom talking about how badly she wanted kids and how worried she was that she’d be too old (they did get married quite a bit older) and it just sounds like desperation and not love.

I feel like something’s wrong with me. It’s just that if I never get married I won’t care, because unless I meet someone I truly love then what would be the point (what I mean is, why get married out of desperation and spend a lifetime resenting your husband)?

I’m very optimistic about the love lives of others, by the way, so this isn’t supposed to sound cynical. I just wonder, is it weird to have no inclination to date (I’m not scared of winding-up like my family, I just genuinely haven’t met someone who asks me out and doesn’t make me feel like I’m lower than scum and super guilty while doing so- this is an issue with myself and NOT the guys, but I figure one day I’ll either meet someone I say yes to or I’ll never say yes and live my life out just fine as well)?

I was like you and never once day dreamed about my wedding day in my life. I am now due to get married in the near future to my wonderful boyfriend of 13 years. The wedding will be very small and private and unlike most of my friends I will not go into thousands of pounds of debt over it.

I do not think anything is wrong with you at all. You will meet the right person one day and if you want you can get married then. I do think that women who obsess over marriage are more likely to get married younger but also more likely to marry the wrong guy if the wedding day is more important than the marriage. You are still very young and I wouldn’t worry if I were you.

It doesn’t matter at all. In our society, marriage has become less and less favourable anyway. I personally do not like the idea of marriage, since I am an introvert. I prefer to do things myself, and my own way and do not like the thought of living with somebody else. You for different reasons do not want to get tied down with a partner – it may be worth assessing your own personality and looking at why you do not want marriage, it will give greater self awareness.

However, I think that if you want children, then marriage is the only way to go. A lot of problems today are caused by family breakdown and marriage is required as a strong building block for bringing up children.

Okay so, I’m not expert on giving psychological advice (though I do intend on obtaining a degree in some form psychology), but I think the main issue here is your self-perception of yourself. Everyone–no matter who the heck you are–has insecurities and doubts. That’s life, its just how you deal with those issues. To me it sounds like you have a solid idea on where you stand on relationships and love yada yada, but you need to be more confident in those beliefs. Stand strong and embrace it. What does concern me however is this tendency of yours regarding the eating disorder and inflicting self-pain. That was an issue of the past, so leave it there, don’t let that effect how you live out the course of your life. I’m sorry that you don’t have someone to talk to about this, a good venting session is always good. But if you find yourself going back to those dark days of hurting yourself, please be wise and get professional help…it’s the best thing you could do for yourself. Work on trying to have a better outlook on life. Good luck!!!

Is there a reason why the accused witches were put in prison during the Salem WItch Trials?
I know that there were imprisoned after they wre accused of being a witch, but is there any specific reason? Its just a question that came up during a research paper and I never got to answer.

The only reason was so they couldn’t escape just as they do to those accused today and sent to prison before trial. Run off basically. The sad thing about the Salem Witch Trials (I did a paper on it in high school) was a great majority of these women were not practicing witches but mid-wives. The doctors of salem considered them a threat to there practice especially since many were simply herbologist as we know today. The other reasons are well known. A neighbor who didn’t like another neighbor or someone who was being rumored to be a witch and to take the heat off of themselves they would accuse another person. Horrible times for women who lived in salem.

Lets face it, people are dumb, dumb as hell.

Either there was dispute over property, or animals. possesions, money.
Or men trying to get midwives out of the child birthing industry.

Or zealots trying ot terrify people into their religion by saying boogeymen will get you if you don’t worship (and further the ends) to our church.

This is the prologue from the book I am currently writing. Most of the book is in first person apart from the prologue and one other part close to the end. Would you want to read more after reading this?

Silent tears slipped down Sofia’s cheeks as she trudged through the forest, branches snapping under her feet. The pale moonlight illuminated her ashen face and the straggly russet tresses that tumbled over her shoulders. She was trembling; unable to feel the light weight in her arms. For miles, she had been walking through fields and the eerily silent forest where not even the owls hooted. Her legs ached to the point where she just wanted to collapse. That was when she caught sight of the thick cluster of spiky bushes that Chris had told her to head for. In front was a small cluster of yellow flowers that contrasted with the rest of the drab forest.

She fell to her knees, laid her bundle to one side and dug desperately through the soft, crumbling dirt with her bare hands. Her fingers numbed by the cold air and pain of sticks and stones cutting her skin and collecting under her nails. Her arms were covered in hundreds of tiny scratches from the thistles and thorns, but she would just have to withstand the irritation. It was nowhere near as bad as the emotional torture she was suffering from. The hole she had dug was just big enough amidst the brambles. She took a huge breath, as if it were her first, as she wiped a muddy hand across her cheek. Her tears left tracks in the dirt on her face. She laid down what she had been carrying, placing it carefully in the hole and covering it up and mumbling some words. She rose to her feet, wobbling slightly as she did so. As exhausted as she was, she ran out of the murky forest, the crisp night air biting at her cheeks.

As she ran, she was overcome by a strange sense of relief. She had to cry as it helped her release her emotions, but somewhere inside, she believed she had done the right thing. Anyone could tell her she hadn’t, but she didn’t really have any other choice. She had argued with herself about it so much that something that at first seemed so wrong, now seemed to be the best thing to have done. Chris made her do it; he didn’t want to be caught but didn’t seem to care if Sofia did. Occasionally she wondered if he cared about anything she did.

No-one could know what had happened because Chris would be put away, and Sofia didn’t want her daughter Rosa to lose the father figure in her life again. Chris had pulled Sofia up off her feet when she needed it most, and she couldn’t help but love him for that. The question now for Sofia was; could she ever forgive him? When they had married, they promised to love each other, for better and for worse, and Sofia had always been known as the girl with the golden heart, but was this was one step too far?
the events of that night are explained in the following chapter, and then come into even more light as the book progresses. i agree about the last paragraph not flowing very well. any help with that?

The writing is good–really good–and the story sounds like it could be interesting. Maybe make the flow in the last part different a little different, but I liked it. Good job.

What should I do with this girl?
So there’s this girl I really, really like. And she definitely knows I like her.

About 2.5 months ago, she sent me this email basically saying "I just want to make sure that you don’t like me in that way. Pleaaaaase don’t like me, there are far more beautiful girls out there". And she said that she didn’t want a relationship, wasn’t ready for a boyfriend etc. And I wrote back to her basically sayign that I really liked her. And she thanked me for being honest.

Since then, we’ve done a lot of one-on-one things together, but apparently according to one of her close friends, she thought we were only doing stuff as friends. (We hadn’t done anything one-on-one before I sent her that message)

She also said that she saw a boyfriend as a really really really close friend. (but as I said we’ve done lots of one-on-one stuff since then- and only since then. i.e.we hadn’t done any one-on-one stuff before I told her how I felt.)

Apparently, according to one of my friends, she fell in love with some guy like two years ago (and is over him now though), and since then, has been "waiting" until she meets "the perfect guy" – the guy she falls in love with.

Note she hasn’t gone out "on a date" with anyone ever. She hasn’t kissed anyone or done anything like that at all.

But as I said before, she wants to really know and be good friends with the guy before she goes out with them. So because she refuses to go out with any guy who asks her, because she doesn’t think she likes them enough/doesnt think she knows them well enough, how is she ever supposed to meet this guy?

Anyway the thing is I really like this girl. Apparently according to her friend she sees me as a "really good friend", and she also knows I like her. She likes hanging out with me one-on-one, she doesn’t seem uncomfortable… (she didn’t say explicitly to her friend that she saw me only as a friend, or that she wouldn’t go out with me if I asked her.) She kind of implied it I think though, she said "he’s a really, really good friend, but I hope I’m not leading him on". But then again, how many people would tell their friends that they liked another friend??

I guess my question is 1) Do I have a chance? I mean, in spite of what she said, is there any chance that she might "like me" but just not be "in love with me". (and thus she doesn’t want to take that risk.) And if so, is there any chance that I might be able to convince her into taking a chance and seeing where it goes? Because I’m just trying to understand how she can expect to fall in love with someone before even going out with them?

ANd she is also adamant on not wanting to be in a relationship, she says she’s afraid of hurting the guy/doesnt feel mature enough. She says this even to her girlfriends, so I don’t think this is a "friendly rejection", I think its an excuse because she’s afraid of taking the chance.

Anyway 1) do you think I have a chance? 2) If so what do you think I should do? 3) I’ve written her a letter explaining why I like her, and why she shouldnt be afraid of a relationship etc. Do you think I should give it to her? And if so when? Should I give it more time, or just give it to her asap?
